Beijing, the capital of China, will be adding a new and large element to their busy city; state media has announced that they will be building a 32 theater complex. This theater strip will be dedicated to performing musicals, allowing it to be dubbed the country's answer to Broadway. They have hopes to stage over a hundred shows, including 'The Lion King.'
The largest theater will hold 2,000 people and the smaller ones will be able to seat between 300 and 500.
The theater complex will be built in the northwestern suburb of Haidian, and construction will begin at the end of 2009. According to the Beijing Daily, the project will take five years to complete.
